Biography

Michael joined Mercer in 2014 and is a senior member of the global private markets infrastructure practice within Mercer Alternatives. He is focused on delivering advice and consulting services to clients with respect to infrastructure investing including portfolio construction, fund manager selection, and direct investing. He sits on the Infrastructure Ratings Review Committee which is responsible for overseeing research ratings on all infrastructure strategies.

Prior to joining Mercer, he worked for some of Canada’s largest financial institutions, including TD Securities and BMO Capital Markets, where he was a senior equity research analyst predominantly covering the North American power, utilities, and renewable energy sectors. During this time he provided investment recommendations on companies with a total market capitalization of approximately C$40 billion.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of British Columbia, is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA), and a CFA Charterholder.
For the past decade, Monika has been a leader in responsible investing including projects with Harvard’s Kennedy School helping establish the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Trillium Asset Management. More recently, she was a Director with Ceres, a sustainability research and advocacy enterprise. There she created and led the Ceres’ Investor Water Hub, a working group of over 120 global pension funds and managers, ($20 trillion AUM) working to evolve ESG and water integration approaches. Monika participates in a number of advisory committees on ESG, including the CFA Institute.

Monika holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA Institute), Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (University of British Columbia), Master of Science (Loyola University Chicago), and is a National Science Foundation Award Winner. With a background both in finance and science, she enjoys bridging knowledge and ideas between these two fields.
